EMLA Cream 5% is a local anaesthetic used to numb the skin before minor medical procedures such as injections, blood tests, or small skin surgeries. It contains lidocaine and prilocaine, which work by blocking nerve signals in the skin, temporarily preventing pain. The cream is applied in a thick layer to the chosen area and covered with a dressing to allow it to absorb, usually for 1–2 hours before the procedure.

EMLA Cream provides effective, temporary numbness for both adults and children and is also sometimes used before cosmetic treatments like laser hair removal or tattooing.
